It means a tremendous amount when someone whose work I really respect reaches out and sends me their latest & greatest. Such is the case with Sonnenzimmer’s newest book, Field Integration. In it, Nick & Nadine draw parallels between the connection between Ikebana, the time-honored and highly influential art of Japanese floral arrangement, with more modern styles of image-making. They explore how such principles inform objects in space with these delightfully composed photos and ink drawings. 28 pages long, it’s set in gray and peachy-orange and is an incredibly poetic read. Purchase of the book will net you three small accompanying prints too.
Opening reading & performance in support of the book is Friday, Feb 25th at the Elastic Arts Foundation. Doors 7:30pm. Free, as usual.
