These photos are taken from photographer Bill Sullivan’s series Top Down and More Turns. Sullivan sets up his camera 10 feet away from the subjects and takes their portrait secretly the second they walk through the turnstile or as the elevator doors open. It’s almost arresting to be faced with these photos but that’s what I like about them. There’s really very little portraiture out there that manages to capture humanity in such a universal, direct way. From Proximity Magazine’s most recent photography issue.

You might also like the work of Beat Streuli, he has a series of large scale photographs of people crossing the street. I saw an installation of his in Switzerland and the photos were printed wall-size, it totally knocked me out. MCA also did a show of his a while back.
