Howdy Do It, Week 5

Howdy Do It came from “how do you do It,” the question Ellie & Margot found themselves asking about their freelance lifestyles, and so Howdy Do It was born, a weekly column about the things we do to keep ourselves organized, inspired and on track. Ellie will be here each Monday, and Margot will be over on Mint at the same time.

Hi Pitch, it’s Ellie back for week 5 of Howdy Do It, and this week I’m feeling good.

Margot’s last HDI post hit home for me, and I did a lot of thinking. I’ll admit it; sometimes the stress I feel is brought on by myself, not the amount of work I have to do. Getting stressed over the “Should Do” list makes no sense. I reminded myself how lucky I am to be working on the things I love to do. If I had seen this week’s to-do list a year ago (design holiday cards / buy paper for K’s invitations / write social media report for H / frame photos for show / send C’s table numbers to print…), I’d be thrilled.

So this week, instead of worrying so much over the Should Do list, and feeling guilty for any number of ridiculous reasons, I’m going to give myself a pat on the back for giving this whole self-employment thing a shot. And I think you should, too.
