Stephanie Gonot Photography

Love Stephanie’s Gonot’s use foods in her photographs. Or “Foods?”, with question mark as she calls them. Always nice to see a young photographer using their medium to make unique editorial statements about the world. Found her work through Adi Goodrich and via Instagram.

New work from Tauba Auerbach

I haven’t checked out old fave Tauba Auerbauch in a while, but in the interim she’s cranked out an entirely new style of work and it is bee-yoo-tiful. These are – wait for it – paintings. Egads, so awesome. Thanks to Jessica Comingore for reminding me of this inspiring lady’s work.

Connor Harrington

I’m currently in British Columbia (going to Vancouver tomorrow & Thursday!) and even though we’ve been traveling for the last 16 hours, there is free wifi at the moment so I can’t resist popping in w/ a post. Not sure when I will have this chance again, so I’m taking it! Love these works by Connor Harrington, they are a totally surprising mash-up of traditional portraiture and graffiti. Beautiful color & energy, they are super unique indeed. Via Design for Mankind.

Dutch Tulip Round-Up

Oh spring, come quick! It’s a lifelong dream of mine to be in Holland during tulip season which is now just seconds away. The countryside all swathed in color as far as the eye can see, the air thick with the scent of spring. And then, all of a sudden it’s harvest time and they’re all cut down, packed up and exported worldwide. My Dad tried to go see them once and he was a day too late, he said it was a like floral massacre, bereft of color, the fields barren with random decapitated tulip heads & bulbs left behind. Oops, sadface Daddio. Nice try, better luck next time!
