Julia Rothman for Hygge & West
Today, Chad pointed me in the direction of Julia Rothman’s newest project, these delectable wallpapers for Hygge & West. I love them all.
Visual Evasion
Man I wish my French was better, because this blog showcases some really top-notch work. I love this typographic series with a little bit of everything gathered from typography’s newest online resource.
Anthropomorphic Objects
I’ve heard people talk about certain objects that have certain anthropomorphic tendencies for them, like the Pixar Lamp for example. I feel this way about about clocks, vintage oscillating fans (Mitch Hedgeburg: I have an oscillating fan at my house. It goes back and forth. It looks like the fan is saying “no.” So I like to ask it questions that a fan would say “no” to! Do you keep my hair in place? Do you keep my documents in order? Do you have 3 settings? LIAR! My fan lied to me. Now I will pull the pin up. Now you ain’t saying sh*t!). Also old radios, and oddly, shopping carts. I got this idea from Graphic Hug and then I ran a search on flickr & came up with some images. Let’s caption them, shall we?

“Fine! Be that way.
Ok, FINE, I will!”

“I can’t believe Johnson finally made a break for it…”
Anyone else have any more caption ideas?
Arm Warmers
I cannot for the life of me understand why these aren’t more popular. Cute? You bet. Practical? Absolutely. I’m going to buy some to coordinate with my favorite shorter sleeved tops for wintertime toastiness. Also, they are perfect for biking since my arms always get cold while the rest of me is overheated. Here’s some I found on etsy & elsewhere. While we’re at it, notice the amusing theatrical posing & background choices some of the sellers have chosen. Who knew arm socks were complimentary to park benches? I sure didn’t.

Kitsune Noir
Kitsune Noir’s Desktop Wallpaper Project showcases some really suh-weet artists and designers. The whole page is inspiring, like a galley show right on my laptop. Had a hard time picking just a few to showcase here.
Books! Pretty Books!
Let’s talk about one of my favorite things today: books!

Penguin’s Classics redefined. Delish, no?

It’s sculpture! It’s an installation! It’s painting! More here.
And check out this new gem of a site I found through La Suisse. I want this book of illustrations by John Burgerman soooo badly.
